Most paper coffee cups are paper coated with Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) – derived from oil. LDPE is non-renewable and non-compostable, and mainly ends up in landfill.
These cups are coated with polylatic acid (PLA) made from natural starches resulting in a package made from fully renewable resources. Alternatively it can be disposed of in a commercial composting waste stream. The use of this corn-based plastic also requires less energy and generates less greenhouse gas in manufacturing; therefore, reduces your environmental footprint.
